Susan Lyons, Ph.D.
Principal Consultant
Dr. Susan Lyons is committed to strengthening assessment systems in service of students, educators, and the public. As Principal of Lyons Assessment Consulting, she provides strategic support to leaders navigating complex decisions in a changing educational measurement and accountability landscape.
She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Kansas and has worked alongside states, foundations, and national organizations to shape assessment policy and practice. She currently serves as Executive Director of the National Council on Measurement in Education and co-founded Women in Measurement.

Finance
Maddie Criag is an essential part of the Lyons Assessment Consulting team and expertly handles all of our bookkeeping, invoicing, and financial reporting needs. Maddie is a certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor and specializes in helping service-based small businesses manage their finances.
Postdoctoral Associate
Sam is passionate about improving communication around assessment and is actively engaged in research at local, state, and industry levels. With a keen interest in creating more equitable educational systems, Sam’s work contributes to the advancement of effective testing methodologies and empowers stakeholders in the field.
Consultant
Klint Kanopka is an Assistant Professor of Applied Statistics whose research connects psychological measurement and computational modeling. He focuses on innovations in item response theory and the use of machine learning to integrate behavioral and assessment data, and is passionate about teaching computational methods.
Publications
Miriam Taveras is a first-generation immigrant Latina from the Dominican Republic and moved to the United STates to pursue a career in editing and book marketing. Miriam is a graduate student at Emerson College and works with the Lyons Assessment Consulting team to edit and polish our publications.

Lanie is a freelance designer who helps brands bring their stories to life through thoughtful, creative design. With a B.S. and M.S. in Marketing from the University of Tennessee, she blends strategy with artistry to create work that not only looks good but connects with people.
Consultant
Dr. Jeri Thompson combines her knowledge of educational systems to provide support for instruction, curriculum, assessments and accountability purposes. She has spent 40 years in public education, part-time faculty at universities in Maryland and Rhode Island, and at the Center for Assessment. Dr. Thompson’s desire is for all students to engage in high quality and equitable instruction and assessment practices.
